Phil has been involved in trucks for all of his working life, having grown up with his parents and their grandparents running their own haulage business, Phil quickly realised his keen interest in vehicle repairs and learnt from a very early age the importance of a high standard of vehicle maintenance whilst assisting with the repairs of the family fleet.
After serving his apprenticeship Phil moved to work with other fleet providers but became frustrated with the attitudes and service levels customers were receiving, prompting him to start APR Engineering in 1980. Phil is the current Managing Director and is still heavily involved with keeping the same high standards.
Northampton Assistant Depot Manager
Chris is Phil’s youngest son and started working in the retail sector and progressed to management level very quickly. He stayed in the retail market gaining valuable experience in customer service and management before joining the family business in 2008. He is currently furthering his management skills whilst working closely with Phil to develop the skills to run the workshop. In 2015 Chris was made a director of the company.
Leighton Buzzard Service Administrator
Lisa is a relatively new member of the team, having previously spent 23 years working for Unipart. She brought a wealth of knowledge of the motor industry when she joined us in early 2012. She has settled in well and is proving to be a valuable asset to the company.
Northampton Service Administrator
Jane joined the company in January 2014 when Pat Richards retired after running the office for the previous 16 years. Jane joined us with excellent references after serving nine years with the transport logistic company Norbert Dentressangle. She adapted to our working practises very quickly and is now an important member of our team.
Director and Leighton Buzzard Depot Manager
Marcus is Phil’s eldest son and spent most of his early years in the workshop environment and consequently developed a keen interest in the family business.
He started his apprenticeship with Volvo trucks in Bedford and Milton Keynes and became apprentice of the year, before moving to Mercedes Wellingborough trucks to further his development before joining the family business in Leighton Buzzard in 2005.
Northampton Workshop Controller
Steve joined APR Engineering in 1997. Having heard we were recruiting, he approached us with some anxiety due to having lost his right arm in a motorcycle accident in 1983. We felt despite the obvious disability that Steve showed the right attitude and skills to work for APR and in the eighteen years he has been with us he has progressed from a talented and able mechanic to Workshop Manager.
Leighton Buzzard Workshop Controller
Luke joined APR at 16 years of age in 2004 as an apprentice mechanic and in that time has completed his apprenticeship and also completed a number of manufacturer training courses and continually pushed to further his personal development. He has always had a keen interest in customer service and is a big asset to the company. After a brief spell in the office after breaking a finger it became clear that despite Luke's age he displayed the attributes to become a workshop controller and the decision was made to push him in this direction.
